A company with trustworthy, leading brands for our consumers.
Many of our brands and our employees participate in outreach activities on their own during the year. We like to highlight their efforts in the community when we can.
Mrs Baird’s Bread has partnered with local retailers to bring their Teachers On The Rise program to local educators in Lubbock, Texas. This program offers students the chance to nominate outstanding teachers in these areas for special recognition through an online nomination form. Then every month, three teachers (one elementary school teacher, one teacher in middle school/junior high and one high school teacher) are recognized as Mrs Baird’s Teacher On The Rise.
"We know our teachers do great things in the classroom every day, but these deeds often go unnoticed and unrecognized," said Jeovani Zamarippa, Mrs Baird's Assistant Brand Manager. "The Teachers On The Rise program honors teachers who go above and beyond the call of duty for their students, and we are proud to bring this program to Lubbock for the second year."
As part of our commitment to community, the Olean Bakery in NY paid for solar panels to be installed on the roof of the William O. Smith Recreation Center in War Veterans Park. The bakery also planted six trees in the Olean park.
Chris Wiseman, Olean Bakery Plant Manager and Mike Appleby, Distribution Manager, attended the ribbon cutting ceremony on Tuesday, August 27 to officially mark the installation, also attended by Olean Mayor Linda Witte.
According to a news article on the solar panels, the 12 Suniva 250-watt panels, along with a net array meter, will be used to power the Veterans’ Memorial on the east side of the park and to partially supply their gazebo. The panels will generate approximately 3,400 kilowatt hours per year, offsetting about 25 percent of the energy it takes to power the park and the Recreation Center.
"This grant is part of our Good Neighbor program that is designed in part to enhance our communities through environmental improvements," said Wiseman. "We are excited to give back to the community, which has supported us for many years."
