Outreach Programs
Many of our brands and our employees participate in outreach activities on their own during the year. We like to highlight their efforts in the community when we can.
BBU Feeds South Florida
At the end of February, the Southeast Business Unit team in Pembroke Park volunteered their time at Feeding South Florida Distribution Center. The team sorted and organized items that were donated to the organization. Feeding South Florida is a member of Feeding America. They have provided more than 30 million pounds of food and grocery products last year in Broward, Miami-Dade, Monroe and Palm Beach Counties. This food benefits hungry children, working poor, people who are physically or mentally challenged, single mothers and fathers, homeless individuals and families, senior citizens and assisted living facilities.

Hundreds of BBU Associates Go Red for Women
Friday, February 1 brought red shirts, red ties and red shoes to BBU locations across the U.S. For the first year, BBU associates participated in National Wear Red Day®, part of the Go Red for Women® movement. Sponsored by the American Heart Association, Go Red for Women works to save women's lives by increasing heart disease and prevention awareness. In addition to wearing red, many locations planned events and activities, such as:
- Providing heart healthy treats for associates including Greek yogurt, fresh fruit, frozen yogurt, cereal and granola
- Sharing heart healthy recipes
- Wear Red contest for best dressed
- Team discussions about the importance of healthy eating and exercise
- Raising funds for the American Heart Association

Toys for Tots – Bay Shore
Bay Shore invited 35 local kindergarten children to their facility for this year’s Toys for Tots program; more than half of these children are bused to the local school from shelters. The children enjoyed a puppet show, lunch and a visit from Santa. U.S. Marines joined the party as well, giving a special feel to the event.

Special Olympics – Charlotte Depot
BBU associates helped out as 120 athletes from North Carolina participated in Greensboro Region Special Olympics on January 7.
"The smiles, hugs, high fives and laughter truly touch your heart in a very special way," said Tom Gantt, Region Sales Manager. The team is also planning to support the Southeast Regional Games on February 4.
